Hunting: Rifle vs. Muzzleloader By Mike Willis

There are two different parts of a deer hunting season; there is muzzleloader (black powder) or you have rifle season. Some people like muzzleloaders and some like rifles and for the most part people determine which to use based on personal preference. Muzzleloaders have great power but, don’t shoot as far. A rifle shoots further and travels at more feet per second and also has great hitting power.

A muzzleloader is old school in a way, it is loaded through the top of the barrel (the muzzle) and has a bigger bullet and black powder is used as well. A rifle is loaded through the barrel as well but, is load in the chamber located above the trigger and has smaller bullets.

If I had a choice of using a muzzleloader or a rifle I would choose a rifle 100 percent of the time because my 30-06 has amazing hitting power and if you put a good shot placement then it will drop in its tracks.
